The spacers help to increases the spring curve of your shock, keeping the shock active at the start of the stroke but helping to prevent harsh bottoming out. Depending upon the size of your X2 shock you will be able to fit between 3 and 7 pairs of these, some riders, particularly aggressive riders will benefit from more spacers.
